Set along the waterfront in Somers Point, New Jersey, Somers Point Paddle Club features an expansive elevated porcelain pool deck designed to connect recreation, dining, lounging, and views of the surrounding marina.
Designed by Parnagian Architects, the club is organized around a series of coastal-inspired gabled structures positioned across an elevated platform. Mbrico reinforced porcelain decking extends throughout the pool area, providing a clean architectural surface suited for the demands of a high-traffic commercial waterfront environment.
Two complementary neutral porcelain tones create subtle variation across the deck while integrating with the project’s restrained palette of cedar, stone, and dark siding. Beneath the surface, Mbrico’s engineered decking system allows the porcelain to perform as part of the elevated structure while maintaining open drainage and consistent spacing.
Following the successful use of Mbrico at Brigantine Marina & Paddle Club, the project team specified the system again at Somers Point on a significantly larger scale. The project demonstrates how reinforced porcelain decking can bring durability, low maintenance, and architectural design together across large elevated pool and hospitality spaces.
